Chugai Pharmaceutical and Omron Corporation have joined forces to automate research processes with the goal of enhancing the productivity of drug discovery research, improving the quality of experimental data, and enabling new experimental activities.
This collaboration involves the implementation of a system at Chugai Life Science Park Yokohama, where it will undergo verification tests and be utilised for fundamental drug discovery research operations.
The system will utilise robotic technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline various tasks. Mobile robots will be responsible for transporting laboratory samples and controlling equipment, while dual arm robots will handle the operation of a diverse range of experimental tools.
By automating these processes, the system has the potential to operate even during unstaffed periods, such as overnight, allowing drug discovery experiments to continue uninterrupted.
This collaboration represents a promising step forward in incorporating AI-assisted drug discovery and robotic technologies into the research process, promising considerable gains in research productivity and the quality of outcomes.
