Bexorg Enters into Partnership with Biohaven to Advance CNS Drug Development Using AI-Powered Whole-Brain Platform

Wednesday, June 11, 2025

Bexorg has entered into a research collaboration with Biohaven to support the development of two preclinical drug programmes.

Bexorg’s platform is designed to restore metabolic and molecular activity in isolated human and pig brains by using a custom-formulated artificial blood. Originally developed at Yale University, this technology enables detailed analysis of transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolic processes in brain tissue. The data gathered helps to build physiologically relevant datasets, which can then be used for AI-driven drug development.

The partnership will utilise Bexorg’s proprietary whole-brain discovery platform to identify therapeutic targets and generate key data to support drug discovery efforts.

Under the agreement, Bexorg will support Biohaven’s CNS research by providing information on target engagement, biomarker identification, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and other mechanistic data. This approach is expected to enhance the understanding of disease pathways and reduce risk in early-stage development.

The collaboration is aimed at addressing longstanding challenges in CNS drug research, particularly the limitations of existing preclinical models that do not adequately represent the human brain’s complexity. Bexorg’s platform offers a more accurate model to assess therapeutic effects, drug distribution across the blood-brain barrier, and the potential efficacy and safety of drug candidates.

The partnership also seeks to identify patient subgroups that may respond better to specific treatments and uncover new biomarkers that can guide clinical trials. Financial details of the agreement were not made public.
