Bruker and Atinary Technologies Expand Collaboration on AI-Driven Self-Driving Laboratories

Wednesday, August 12, 2026

Bruker Corporation has expanded its strategic collaboration with Atinary Technologies to advance self-driving laboratory technologies and AI-driven research and development. Bruker has also made a minority investment in Atinary, although financial details were not disclosed.

The collaboration will bring together Atinary’s AI and machine learning platform with Chemspeed laboratory automation systems, Bruker analytical instruments and SciY scientific software. The combined technology is designed to automate laboratory workflows and help researchers plan, conduct and analyse experiments more efficiently.

Atinary’s code-free SDLabs platform uses AI agents and machine learning to design experiments through a closed-loop process covering design, testing, analysis and learning. The approach is intended to generate consistent, high-quality datasets that can support AI model development and accelerate scientific discovery.

Atinary and Chemspeed have also established a joint demonstration laboratory at Chemspeed’s headquarters near Basel, Switzerland. In Boston, Atinary’s self-driving laboratory opened in early 2026 as a scientific data facility focused on accelerating the development of new molecules and products.

The Boston laboratory uses Chemspeed robotics, Bruker benchtop nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) systems and other automation and measurement technologies. Its work focuses on small-molecule synthesis and catalysis, with applications in pharmaceutical research and process development.

The expanded collaboration is expected to support further integration of analytical technologies, laboratory automation and AI-guided experimentation. The companies also plan to explore additional applications across pharmaceutical, chemical, energy and materials research.
