Charles River and Deciphex Expand Collaboration to Enhance Digital Pathology

Wednesday, February 12, 2025

Charles River Laboratories International and Deciphex have announced the next stage of their strategic collaboration, aiming to enhance digital pathology solutions through advanced image management technology.

The partnership will focus on optimising pathology workflows by integrating Deciphex’s image management system, Patholytix, across Charles River’s global network.

This expansion is designed to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in toxicologic pathology. By incorporating a fully integrated image management, distribution, and archiving system, the initiative seeks to streamline digital workflows and reduce turnaround times.

The collaboration is expected to facilitate seamless data sharing and support enhanced analysis capabilities for histology laboratories and pathologists.

Building on the introduction of Deciphex’s AI-powered solution, Foresight, in 2024, the partnership will further advance artificial intelligence applications in toxicologic pathology.

New developments will extend AI capabilities to a wider range of tissues and lesions, incorporating screening tools for acute toxicity and carcinogenicity studies. The aim is to support faster and more precise assessments in drug development and safety studies.

The integration of digital pathology and AI technologies within Charles River’s toxicologic pathology operations is expected to enhance efficiency in non-clinical safety assessments.

By reducing the time required for toxicology studies, the approach will allow pathologists to focus on complex diagnostic tasks while supporting faster decision-making in drug discovery and development.

This collaboration reinforces the ongoing commitment to innovation in pathology workflows, with the goal of accelerating the development of safer therapies.
