Chugai and Gero Partner to Develop New Therapies for Age-Related Diseases
Tuesday, July 08, 2025
Chugai Pharmaceutical and Gero have entered into a joint research and licence agreement aimed at developing innovative treatments for age-related diseases.
The collaboration brings together Chugai’s proprietary antibody engineering technologies and Gero’s AI-driven platform, which identifies potential drug targets by analysing human datasets.
Under the terms of the agreement, Gero will grant Chugai exclusive global rights to research, develop, manufacture, and commercialise antibody-based therapies against the discovered targets.
Chugai will make an upfront payment and may provide additional payments of up to approximately 250 million USD, depending on the achievement of specific development and sales milestones. If a product reaches the market, royalties on sales will also be paid to Gero.
The partnership is expected to accelerate the development of new therapies by combining data-driven target discovery with advanced drug development capabilities.
The aim is to address the growing medical needs of an ageing population through the creation of first-in-class treatments.
