Debiopharm & WhiteLab Genomics Partner to Advance Oncology Drug Design

Tuesday, September 17, 2024

Debiopharm has formed a partnership with WhiteLab Genomics (WLG) to establish tomorrow’s standard-of-care to cure cancer and infectious diseases.

The collaboration aims to achieve two key objectives: identifying cancer-specific receptors overexpressed on cancer cell surfaces and discovering lead candidates capable of binding to these receptors. These agents will then be attached to the surface of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to enhance targeted tissue delivery.

LNPs have gained recognition as a leading drug delivery vector with the potential to revolutionise oncology, particularly in the field of genomic medicine, due to their high delivery efficiency.

However, a challenge with LNPs is their tendency to accumulate in non-target organs, such as the liver, which reduces their effectiveness at reaching the intended site.

To overcome this, WLG will use its AI-powered platform to explore innovative in silico approaches aimed at improving LNPs' targeted delivery capabilities, potentially opening up new therapeutic applications.

As a key investor in WLG through its Innovation Fund, Debiopharm has supported the company's innovative work.

This partnership offers an opportunity to validate WLG's AI platform and strengthen the relationship between the two organisations.

The collaboration also aligns with Debiopharm’s aim to leverage AI-based solutions to enhance drug development, reduce risk, and deliver more effective and personalised treatments for patients.
