FUJIFILM Biotechnologies Expands Partnership with argenx to Include U.S. Manufacturing

Friday, September 19, 2025

FUJIFILM Biotechnologies has expanded its global partnership with argenx SE to include drug substance manufacturing operations in the United States.

Under the agreement, the company will begin producing efgartigimod at its Holly Springs, North Carolina, site in 2028.

argenx becomes the first announced tenant in FUJIFILM Biotechnologies’ Phase II expansion in Holly Springs. This development will add eight new 20,000-litre mammalian cell culture bioreactors to the facility, doubling its existing capacity.

Efgartigimod is a monoclonal antibody fragment designed to block the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) in patients with severe autoimmune conditions. It is already approved worldwide under the names VYVGART® and VYVGART® Hytrulo for the treatment of generalised myasthenia gravis (gMG) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), two long-term neuromuscular disorders associated with muscle weakness.

Through the extended collaboration, argenx will gain access to FUJIFILM Biotechnologies’ kojoX™ network, the industry’s largest modular system connecting facilities across the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, and Japan. This approach is designed to strengthen supply chain resilience by enabling local manufacturing close to patient populations and providing flexible capacity at both clinical and commercial scales.

The partnership marks the first global end-to-end programme delivered through the kojoX platform and is expected to reinforce argenx’s worldwide supply of efgartigimod while supporting its U.S. manufacturing footprint.
