GC Genome and MP Group Enter into Licensing Agreement

GC Genome Corporation, a leading diagnostics company, has recently announced a collaboration and exclusive license agreement with MP Group CO., LTD in Bangkok, Thailand, to introduce 'Genome Health.' This SNP genotyping service utilizes next-generation sequencing (NGS) to identify risk alleles associated with major cancer types and general diseases, a development by GC Genome.
GC Genome, expressed enthusiasm about Genome Health's impact on South Korea's genetic health checkup market, highlighting its efficiency in analyzing 45 diseases in a single test for personalized health management. The company aims to replicate this success in Thailand and beyond.
Under the agreement, GC Genome will grant MP Group an exclusive license to commercialize Genome Health in Thailand, along with the transfer of essential wet lab technology and operational know-how for a genetic laboratory within Thailand. MP Group plans to launch the product as "genechecks" and implement a comprehensive marketing program. The financial details of the agreement remain undisclosed.
Nathporn Boonbuppa, CEO of MP Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership in addressing healthcare accessibility issues, particularly for individuals in low to middle-income communities. The collaboration aims to provide rapid and affordable genetic diagnostics to a wider population in Thailand, highlighting potential benefits for Thai citizens.
In addition to this collaboration, GC Genome and MP Group have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen their partnership. The MoU outlines plans for expanding the range of products developed by GC Genome, including Health Checkup, Pre&Neonatal Health, Precision Oncology, and Rare Diseases within Thailand. This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen their presence in the Southeast Asian healthcare market by establishing a comprehensive diagnostic value chain.
