GeminiBio and Tolemy Bio Partners to Introduce AI-Driven Media Optimisation Service for Cell Therapy Manufacturing
Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Gemini Bioproducts has announced the launch of aiMOS™, an artificial intelligence-enabled media optimisation service developed in collaboration with Tolemy Bio.
The new service uses artificial intelligence and machine learning, combined with multi-omics data, to design customised media supplements for cell therapy manufacturing. It aims to improve performance, consistency and scalability across T-cell, NK-cell, TCR and TIL development and manufacturing processes. By tailoring supplementation to specific biological and process needs, aiMOS is designed to enhance critical quality attributes (CQAs), increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce overall production costs.
GeminiBio supplies serum, customised media, buffers and process liquids to companies involved in the research and production of mRNA, AAV, monoclonal antibodies and cell therapies. Its human AB serum has been widely used for more than a decade as a supplement in cell therapy workflows, supporting immune cell expansion in both clinical development and commercial manufacturing. The introduction of aiMOS represents a shift from general supplementation to data-driven, process-specific optimisation that enhances base media and enables targeted performance improvements.
The aiMOS platform applies advanced modelling techniques to analyse cellular metabolic and behavioural data. This approach identifies the key factors influencing cell performance, potency and yield. Based on these insights, it predicts the optimal supplement composition and concentration required to improve outcomes. Formulations can then be produced under cGMP conditions, supporting seamless transition from early development to commercial-scale manufacturing.
The service is designed to help developers improve viable yields, support favourable cell phenotypes such as memory-like T cells, and stabilise batch-to-batch performance. By reducing failed or underperforming batches, limiting rework and optimising reagent use, aiMOS can help lower cost per dose. It also aims to shorten development timelines by reducing reliance on trial-and-error media adjustments.
With the growing complexity of cell therapies, developers are increasingly seeking integrated support that combines high-quality raw materials with process optimisation strategies. Through aiMOS, GeminiBio expands its capabilities beyond serum supply, offering a structured and scalable pathway to improve manufacturing performance while meeting clinical and commercial requirements.
