Gene Solutions and Element Biosciences Collaboration to Enhance NGS Technology

Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Gene Solutions has announced a strategic collaboration with Element Biosciences.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a recent visit by Element Biosciences to Gene Solutions’ laboratory.

The alliance is expected to generate significant synergies by combining Element Biosciences’ advanced sequencing platforms with Gene Solutions’ expertise in genetic testing and AI-driven diagnostics. While Element Biosciences continues to establish itself as a key player in the field of next-generation sequencing (NGS), Gene Solutions has built a strong presence across eight Asian countries, delivering genetic solutions to more than 4,500 hospitals and clinics.

One major area of focus in this partnership is reproductive health, particularly non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). This widely used clinical application of NGS screens for chromosomal abnormalities in cell-free DNA found in the blood of pregnant women. Gene Solutions has developed its proprietary NIPT solution under the brand triSure™, along with a full ecosystem covering pre-birth to postnatal diagnosis. The company's workflow uniquely integrates screening for both recessive and dominant single-gene disorders, and ongoing research aims to add pregnancy complication prediction into the test.

With the global NIPT market forecast to grow from USD 5.20 billion in 2022 to USD 19.09 billion by 2030, the collaboration seeks to leverage Element’s cost-effective and accessible sequencing tools to further extend the reach of these non-invasive screening options.

In the field of oncology, early detection remains a critical goal. Gene Solutions has introduced several AI-powered genomic tests, including SPOT-MAS for early cancer detection and additional personalised tools for guiding targeted and immunotherapies. These solutions are supported by genomic and transcriptomic profiling and are applied across several stages of cancer care, including continuous monitoring.

This collaboration is set to advance these innovations through the integration of AVITI24™, Element’s comprehensive multiomics platform. AVITI24 offers single-cell resolution profiling that combines transcriptomic, proteomic, and morphological data using Teton™ kits and avidite base chemistry. This technology will be integrated into Gene Solutions' R&D pipelines, including the Clinical Multi-omics Project, 3D Patient-derived Organoids, and a Neoantigen Cancer Vaccine programme. These projects reflect the company’s commitment to applying multi-modal AI and multi-omics to drive forward therapeutic development.

The agreement provides a foundation for further exploration into joint marketing, research and development, technical cooperation, and customer support. By pooling expertise and technological capabilities, both organisations aim to expand access to genomic technologies and accelerate their adoption in clinical and research settings.

This partnership is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the global footprint of both companies, particularly in the application of precision medicine and genomic diagnostics.
