GeneCentric Therapeutics Unveils EXpressCT Platform for Liquid Biopsy

Tuesday, October 29, 2024

GeneCentric Therapeutics has introduced its latest platform enhancing precision medicine in oncology by enabling RNA-based diagnostics through liquid biopsy.

The EXpressCT platform allows for the use of RNA expression and epigenomic markers in circulating tumour signal samples, such as blood and urine, advancing beyond the traditional limitations of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing, which typically focuses on detecting genetic mutations alone.

While liquid biopsy offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional tissue biopsies by examining fluid samples, its current approach centres mainly on identifying DNA mutations rather than gene expression.

This narrow focus can overlook essential molecular details, such as tumour subtypes and specific biomarkers required for targeted therapies, often delaying accurate diagnosis and the initiation of vital treatments.

Gene expression profiling within liquid biopsy, as supported by the EXpressCT platform, now allows for a deeper understanding of tumour biology and broader diagnostic applications.

GeneCentric has initially developed liquid biopsy cfDNA expression signature tests targeting pancreatic, lung, breast, and colorectal cancers.

Additionally, the platform is adaptable for translating existing solid tumour biopsy gene signatures into liquid biopsy applications and supports the development of new diagnostic tests.

This flexible technology can be incorporated with various liquid biopsy assays, ensuring a broad potential for commercial and clinical partnerships.

Through EXpressCT, GeneCentric aims to expand the diagnostic capabilities of liquid biopsy, making gene expression profiling a standard in oncology.
