GenEditBio Receives Investment from Gobi Partners GBA to Drive Genome Editing Advancements

Tuesday, October 01, 2024

GenEditBio has secured investment from the AEF Greater Bay Area Fund, managed by Gobi Partners GBA, a venture capital firm in Asia.

GenEditBio’s in vivo programs, GEB-100 and GEB-200, use proprietary lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) targeting the liver and have completed proof-of-concept studies in non-human primates.

The funding will support the development of GenEditBio's precision genome-editing and delivery technologies. It will also help advance the company's in vivo programs and initiate clinical studies focused on safety and efficacy.

This investment is expected to bolster the company’s talent recruitment and enhance its research capabilities, driving progress in genome editing and therapeutic delivery. GenEditBio aims to use its innovative technologies to address unmet medical needs in genetic diseases.

Gobi Partners GBA sees potential in GenEditBio’s work and is committed to supporting its progress in genome editing. The company's technology is anticipated to contribute to advancements in both scientific research and patient care.

Drug candidates are expected to be nominated by the third quarter of 2024. Additionally, the GEB-400 program, focused on an inherited retinal disease, is on track to nominate a drug candidate in 2024 and enter the clinical stage in 2025.

This program will feature the company's next-generation engineered protein delivery vehicles (ePDVs).
