InterAx and Alveus Enter Strategic Research and Licensing Agreement for Metabolic Disease Therapy

Friday, January 16, 2026

InterAx Biotech Ltd and Alveus Therapeutics Inc. have entered into a strategic research collaboration and licensing agreement to develop a differentiated small-molecule therapeutic candidate for metabolic disease, aimed at delivering durable weight loss with improved tolerability.

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly research a target and modality of established but underexplored therapeutic interest. The collaboration combines InterAx’s Deep Signal™ discovery platform, which is designed to optimise drug candidates for superior signalling profiles, with Alveus’s strong R&D capabilities and expertise in obesity, diabetes and cardiometabolic disease. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes an upfront payment and the potential for future development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments.

Andrew Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of InterAx, said the collaboration aims to address the limitations of current obesity treatments by advancing a highly differentiated therapeutic candidate. He added that the Deep Signal™ platform is built to manage the complexity of GPCR signalling, making Alveus a strong partner with its deep metabolic disease expertise.

Jacob Jeppesen, Chief Scientific Officer and Head of R&D at Alveus, said InterAx’s platform brings together drug chemistry, protein structure, cellular signalling and therapeutic efficacy, which are critical for efficiently designing differentiated drug candidates. He noted that this integrated approach will support the joint programme’s development efforts.
