Johnson & Johnson to transform cancer care with acquisition of Halda Therapeutics
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
Johnson & Johnson has announced an agreement to acquire Halda Therapeutics.
Halda’s technology is based on its Regulated Induced Proximity Targeting Chimera (RIPTAC™) platform, designed to deliver precision cancer cell-killing activity. Its lead candidate, HLD-0915, is being developed for prostate cancer, a disease projected to affect around 1.7 million people globally by 2030.
The once-daily treatment aims to address significant unmet need by targeting cancer cells in a way that may overcome treatment resistance. Earlier-stage candidates for breast, lung and several additional tumour types are also included in the acquisition. The platform may enable future therapies outside oncology as well.
The deal, valued at US$3.05 billion in cash, is expected to close in the coming months following antitrust approval and other customary conditions.
Through this acquisition, Johnson & Johnson intends to strengthen its oncology pipeline with both a promising clinical-stage asset and a platform with potential across multiple cancers. The company plans to advance the ongoing Phase 1/2 trial of HLD-0915 and further develop additional candidates using RIPTAC™ technology.
The move reflects Johnson & Johnson’s long-term focus on prostate cancer and its ambition to expand treatment options for patients.
If successful, Halda’s therapies could provide important new solutions across a range of hard-to-treat cancers.
