Leica Biosystems and CST Partner for Flexible High-Throughput Spatial Biology
Monday, November 04, 2024
Leica Biosystems has announced a partnership with Cell Signaling Technology (CST).
The BOND RX staining platform allows researchers to fully automate new technologies, customize all parts of the protocol, and implement their ideas effectively. The BOND Covertile preserves tissue morphology and ensures gentle and consistent application of reagents.
Together, the BOND Covertile and the gentle nature of SignalStar protect samples, enabling further analysis on the same tissue. Using the BOND RX for multiplexing helps researchers maximise the data obtained from each sample.
This collaboration aims to enhance spatial biology research by using the BOND RX Fully Automated Research Stainer. Scientists can now reduce the time spent on manual tasks by using the SignalStar Multiplex IHC assays with automated BOND RX and BOND RXm protocols, allowing the creation of 8-plex multiplex IHC (mIHC) images in just two days.
The SignalStar mIHC assay is an advanced tool for mid-plex spatial biology studies. It features highly validated and customizable antibody panels along with a proprietary technology that boosts antibody signals.
This enables researchers to study tissue structure and the co-expression of biomarkers for up to eight targets in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues. The antibody panels are flexible, allowing researchers to change targets as needed without re-optimizing or re-validating the panels.
When combined with BOND RX, the SignalStar technology delivers results 70% faster from sample preparation to imaging compared to other mIHC methods.
This partnership makes the SignalStar assay more accessible, even for researchers without a background in spatial biology. It supports high-throughput multiplexing experiments in growing fields like immunology and neurology.
Unlike other mIHC methods that can take months to design and optimize antibody panels and require reconfiguration for changing experimental needs, SignalStar works seamlessly with the BOND RX.
This integration further reduces the time needed to obtain results and allows researchers to easily update their assays as their studies progress.
