Lisata Therapeutics and GATC Health Partners to Advance AI-Based Drug Development

Thursday, June 19, 2025

Lisata Therapeutics has expanded its partnership with GATC Health.

This extended collaboration aims to accelerate the drug development process and increase the likelihood of success through the use of advanced AI technologies.

The MAT platform generates comprehensive reports that evaluate a drug’s likelihood of success or failure during development. These reports use a straightforward ranking system and provide detailed explanations for each prediction.

It is also seen as a promising tool to meet the latest data expectations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for New Approach Methodologies, which prioritise human-relevant data over animal testing.

This platform helps predict promising drug combinations, including those involving certepetide, across various therapeutic areas. In addition to identifying new treatment opportunities, the MAT platform is designed to assess potential safety, efficacy, and side effects, thereby reducing risk in early-stage development.

The partnership will now focus on advancing the development of a novel treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). This drug candidate, a non-opioid small molecule, was identified through GATC’s MAT platform. Preclinical studies have shown that the compound can significantly reduce fentanyl intake in established mouse models. Now in advanced preclinical stages, the compound is expected to begin Phase 1 human trials early next year.

The collaboration will combine GATC’s AI-driven discovery process with Lisata’s experience in clinical development and regulatory strategy to support the rapid advancement of the candidate.

The expanded partnership is expected to deliver mutual benefits, combining AI-powered drug discovery with clinical development expertise.
