MannKind to Acquire scPharmaceuticals to Strengthen Position in Cardiometabolic and Lung Diseases
Tuesday, August 26, 2025
MannKind has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire scPharmaceuticals in a move aimed at expanding its focus on cardiometabolic and orphan lung diseases.
The acquisition adds to MannKind’s cardiometabolic portfolio through scPharmaceuticals’ marketed product, FUROSCIX, an FDA-approved on-body infuser that delivers furosemide, widely used to treat fluid overload in adults with chronic heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
The treatment is expected to address a market opportunity exceeding USD 10 billion in the United States.
scPharmaceuticals has been building momentum with the recent expansion of its sales force, a launch into nephrology, and growing adoption across integrated delivery networks. For the first half of 2025, the company reported net sales of USD 27.8 million, reflecting a 96 per cent increase compared with the same period in the previous year. Its FUROSCIX ReadyFlow Autoinjector is expected to be submitted for a supplemental New Drug Application in the third quarter of 2025, with the aim of significantly reducing administration time.
The transaction is intended to broaden MannKind’s patient-centred portfolio, diversify its revenue streams, and support its growth objectives over the coming years.
By integrating scPharmaceuticals’ products with MannKind’s established commercial operations, the combined company is expected to enhance access to innovative therapies and create added value for patients and stakeholders.
