Medigene and EpimAb Biotherapeutics Partner to Develop TCR-Guided T Cell Engagers

Friday, February 28, 2025

Medigene and EpimAb Biotherapeutics have entered a strategic co-development agreement to advance research on off-the-shelf T cell receptor (TCR)-guided T Cell Engagers (TCR-TCEs) for immune-related diseases, including solid tumours.

The collaboration brings together Medigene’s expertise in generating sensitive, specific, and safe (3S) TCRs with EpimAb’s CD3 antibody technology and proprietary T-FIT (TCR-Fab in tandem) platform.

The partnership aims to create bispecific therapeutics designed to enhance targeted immune responses while reducing off-target effects, potentially improving patient outcomes. The newly developed TCR-TCE constructs will be co-owned by both companies.

The growing field of bispecific therapies is increasingly recognised for its potential in cancer treatment, particularly for solid and haematologic tumours where survival rates remain low.

Each year, millions of cancer patients worldwide face limited treatment options, highlighting the urgent need for innovative solutions.

TCR-TCEs represent a promising approach by directing the body’s immune system to target cancer cells more precisely.

The market for bispecific therapies is projected to expand significantly, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of 40.9% between 2023 and 2030.

By the end of the decade, the sector is expected to surpass USD 80 billion, reflecting the strong demand for advanced immunotherapies that can improve treatment outcomes.
