Merus Enters into Agreement with Halozyme to Develop Subcutaneous Version of Petosemtamab
Tuesday, November 18, 2025
Merus N.V. has entered into a global, non-exclusive collaboration and licence agreement with Halozyme Therapeutics.
The partnership will support the development of a subcutaneous formulation of petosemtamab, Merus’ EGFR x LGR5 bispecific antibody currently being studied across several solid tumour types.
Through the agreement, Merus will use Halozyme’s ENHANZE® drug delivery technology to create a subcutaneous option that may offer more convenient administration compared with intravenous delivery. The companies aim to improve treatment efficiency and enhance the overall experience for patients and healthcare providers.
Petosemtamab has shown promising activity in ongoing clinical studies, including in head and neck cancer, and is being explored for use in multiple indications.
Under the contract terms, Merus will provide an upfront payment to Halozyme. Halozyme may also receive future milestone payments linked to commercial progress and sales, along with low- to mid-single-digit royalties on net sales of the subcutaneous product if it reaches the market.
The collaboration is expected to support Merus’ efforts to advance the medicine as a potential first-in-class treatment.
