NextCell Pharma Enters into Collaboration with FUJIFILM Biosciences to Advance Cell Therapy Solutions

Friday, July 04, 2025

NextCell Pharma AB has announced a strategic collaboration with FUJIFILM Biosciences aiming to combine their expertise in mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and life science raw materials.

The partnership will offer an integrated solution to researchers and developers in the cell therapy sector. This includes standardised MSC products, optimised culture media, and cryopreservation systems.

This update follows the rebranding of Fujifilm Irvine Scientific to FUJIFILM Biosciences. The original announcement, first published on 20 May, has been updated to reflect the company's new name and refined focus within the life sciences industry.

The collaboration supports both companies' commitment to advancing innovative therapies through improved workflows and reliable materials. The joint initiative is designed to streamline MSC culture and storage processes, while providing dependable reference tools for therapy development.

Earlier in 2024, NextCell expanded its portfolio by launching a research-use-only umbilical cord MSC product, developed using in-house expertise. The new partnership will bring this product together with FUJIFILM Biosciences' PRIME-XV MSC culture media and cryopreservation solutions.

The joint offering is expected to support researchers and industry professionals by delivering:

  • High-quality, standardised MSC reference material
  • Specialised media and cryopreservation tools for efficient culture and storage
  • A robust system to support the validation and development of new therapies

The collaboration is intended to accelerate critical research and development steps, simplify workflows, and reduce barriers in scaling up MSC-based therapeutic applications.

Both organisations have worked closely to establish this initiative and aim to build a strong, long-term partnership focused on innovation in the cell therapy space.
