NurExone Enters Agreement for Large-Scale Preclinical Testing of ExoPTEN, Advancing Spinal Cord Injury Therapy Toward Human Clinical Trials
Saturday, March 23, 2024
NurExone Biologic Inc. (TSXV: NRX) (Germany: J90), a pioneering biopharmaceutical company specializing in regenerative medicine therapies, has announced a strategic collaboration with Vivox Ltd., a leading provider of animal testing and services for biotech and pharmaceutical companies based in Israel. This partnership represents a significant advancement towards submitting an Investigational New Drug (IND) application in the US for NurExone’s ExoPTEN therapy, targeted at treating spinal cord injury (SCI).
As part of this collaboration, Vivox will deliver Contract Research Organization (CRO) services to NurExone, which are essential for initiating Human Trials under the planned IND. The services will involve conducting experiments on 100 rats divided into 5 different trials, each requiring meticulous care and monitoring. These trials will assess the effects of the ExoPTEN active ingredient on some rats, while others will serve as controls. The treatment period is expected to last approximately 2 months, with the aim of determining the optimal ExoPTEN dosage in various rodent models of spinal cord injury. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both companies to advancing innovative therapies for SCI.
Dr. Lior Shaltiel, CEO of NurExone, expressed satisfaction with engaging Vivox for these experiments, highlighting their focus on evaluating mobility, behavior, and recovery post-Spinal Cord Injury and ExoPTEN treatment. He anticipates that this detailed analysis will complement the promising results observed in laboratory experiments, further validating the potential of ExoPTEN therapy.
NurExone is optimistic about ExoPTEN's potential as a treatment for SCI, citing preclinical studies demonstrating its ability to promote neural regeneration and functional recovery in animal models. Through collaboration with Vivox, NurExone aims to expedite the development and regulatory pathway of ExoPTEN, with the ultimate goal of offering this transformative treatment to patients in need.
