Nxera Pharma Reaches Second Milestone in Eli Lilly Collaboration for Metabolic Diseases

Nxera Pharma has achieved a second development milestone under its multi-target collaboration and licence agreement with Eli Lilly, focused on diabetes and other metabolic diseases.
Metabolic diseases are a group of disorders in which the body cannot properly process or regulate nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. This leads to abnormal levels of energy, glucose, or lipids in the body.
This milestone triggers a payment to Nxera, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
The collaboration, established in 2022, combines Nxera’s expertise in GPCR-based structure-driven drug design with Lilly’s capabilities in development and commercialisation. The latest progress highlights the successful use of Nxera’s NxWave platform to identify small molecule binders and determine receptor structures, helping to understand how these molecules interact with targets.
Following this milestone, Lilly will take responsibility for further development and potential commercialisation of the programme.
Under the agreement, Nxera may receive up to US$694 million in development and commercial milestone payments, along with tiered royalties on future global sales.
