OMass Therapeutics Enters into Collaboration with Genentech for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Therapies
Wednesday, September 03, 2025
OMass Therapeutics has entered into an exclusive collaboration and licence agreement with Genentech.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) refers to a group of chronic conditions that cause inflammation of the digestive tract, mainly Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Symptoms often include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, weight loss, and fatigue.
There are nearly eight million people worldwide living with IBD, highlighting the continued need for new treatment options despite recent advances in the field.
The agreement covers the development and commercialisation of OMass’ preclinical oral small molecule programme for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Through its OdyssION™ platform, OMass has advanced work on a novel first-in-class target with a differentiated mechanism of action for IBD. The collaboration aims to build on this progress by combining OMass’ early-stage research with Genentech’s expertise in immunology and drug development.
The deal includes an upfront payment of $20 million to OMass. The company may also receive further preclinical, development, commercial, and net sales milestone payments of more than $400 million, along with tiered royalties on future net sales.
Under the arrangement, OMass will carry out initial preclinical development up to candidate selection, while Genentech will lead clinical development, regulatory submissions, manufacturing, and commercialisation.
