Orchard Therapeutics Enters into Partnership with Er-Kim to Expand Libmeldy Access in Turkey and Eurasia

Orchard Therapeutics has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Er-Kim. This partnership aims to commercialise Libmeldy® (atidarsagene autotemcel), the only approved treatment for early-onset metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD), in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Under the agreement, Er-Kim will serve as the exclusive representative of Orchard Therapeutics, identifying eligible children in the designated regions and facilitating their referral to a European treatment centre.
MLD is an ultra-rare, rapidly progressing, and fatal neurometabolic condition caused by a mutation in the ARSA gene, affecting approximately one in 100,000 live births.
Libmeldy addresses the underlying genetic cause of MLD by modifying a patient's own stem cells to produce the functional enzyme necessary to slow or stop disease progression.
The partnership seeks to ensure broader access to Libmeldy, particularly in areas where there is a higher incidence of MLD than in the US and Europe.
Libmeldy has been approved by regulatory bodies, including the European Commission, UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and Swissmedic.
