Remepy Partners with Merck to Develop Hybrid Drugs Across Therapeutic Areas

Wednesday, April 29, 2026

Remepy has entered into a collaboration with Merck to advance the development of hybrid drugs across multiple therapeutic areas.

The initial phase of the partnership will focus on selected programmes in the United States, particularly in a rare tumour segment, with scope to expand into broader areas within Merck’s portfolio over time.

Hybrid drugs are a developing class of therapies that combine traditional medicines with personalised digital therapeutic support delivered through mobile applications. These treatments aim to improve outcomes by integrating medication with behavioural, physical and cognitive interventions based on clinical evidence.

The collaboration comes as regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, supporting the integration of software with pharmaceutical products. Initiatives such as the US Food and Drug Administration’s guidance on prescription drug use-related software and advancements in software as a medical device pathways are helping create clearer routes for such combination therapies.

This approach also introduces a new commercial model by bringing digital therapeutics into the established structure of pharmaceutical development, pricing and reimbursement, potentially strengthening both treatment effectiveness and market adoption.
