Sarah Cannon Research Institute Enters into Partnership with AbbVie to Advance Cancer Therapies

Thursday, May 29, 2025

Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) has announced a strategic alliance with AbbVie.

The partnership is set to speed up the development of innovative cancer treatments by combining scientific expertise and improving clinical trial operations.

The alliance will focus on expanding access to new therapies for cancer patients by strengthening collaboration between SCRI’s research network and AbbVie’s drug development efforts. With over 1,300 physicians working across more than 200 sites in over 20 US states, SCRI will support AbbVie in designing and conducting clinical trials that better reflect the needs of diverse patient groups.

Through its research infrastructure and contract research organisation, SCRI Development Innovations, the Institute will support trial delivery and patient recruitment. The collaboration also aims to improve trial efficiency through SCRI’s Accelero model, which is designed to streamline site activation, increase site contributions, and manage research operations more effectively.

The Accelero model includes centralised patient screening and personalised medicine tools to help identify suitable trial candidates quickly. SCRI will also provide timely data to support drug development decisions and optimise trial outcomes.

This strategic partnership is expected to support the development of patient-focused therapies and improve how clinical trials are conducted in the community setting.
