Scribe Therapeutics Enters into Collaboration with Lilly for In Vivo CRISPR-Based Genetic Medicines

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

Scribe Therapeutics has achieved a second success milestone under its collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company marking further progress in the development of in vivo CRISPR-based genetic medicines.

The partnership focuses on creating new treatments for neurological and neuromuscular disorders using Scribe’s proprietary X-Editor (XE) technology. The latest milestone highlights continued advancement in the joint programme and reflects steady progress in applying engineered CRISPR tools to complex diseases.

The collaboration aims to develop next-generation genetic medicines designed for improved precision and effectiveness. Scribe’s CRISPR by Design™ approach uses a data-driven and iterative engineering process to optimise gene-editing systems for specific disease targets, particularly those linked to high-burden conditions with significant unmet medical need.

Earlier in the partnership, the companies reported an initial milestone achievement and presented joint scientific data at the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) Annual Meeting in 2025.

Under the agreement signed in 2023, Scribe is eligible to receive more than $1.5 billion in potential milestone payments across research, development, regulatory and commercial stages. The deal also includes low double-digit royalties on future product sales.

The milestone strengthens the ongoing collaboration and supports continued development of in vivo gene-editing therapies targeting serious neurological and neuromuscular diseases.
