Silo Pharma Enters into Agreement with Kymanox to Develop SP-26 for Pain Management

Saturday, November 30, 2024

Silo Pharma has entered a joint development agreement with Kymanox to advance the SP-26 ketamine-loaded implant.

SP-26 is a ketamine-based dissolvable polymer implant developed by Silo Pharma for managing chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Designed for subcutaneous use, the implant aims to provide controlled dosage and timed release of the therapeutic agent. If successful in clinical trials, SP-26 could be eligible for the FDA's expedited 505(b)(2) approval pathway.

This implant is designed to address chronic pain conditions, including fibromyalgia.

The agreement includes a proof-of-concept phase, focusing on designing a specialised subcutaneous insertion device. Following this, prototype development and feasibility testing will determine the optimal insertion depth for the device.

Initial research has validated the SP-26 implant's formulation and functionality. The programme now progresses towards creating an insertion device to support preclinical evaluations. This implant aims to provide sustained pain relief and meet regulatory safety standards for potential at-home use.

If successful, SP-26 could become the first ketamine-based injectable therapeutic approved for home administration.

Kymanox also collaborates with Silo Pharma on SPC-15, a treatment under development for stress-related conditions such as PTSD.
