Simcere Zaiming Enters into Partnership with AbbVie to Develop Trispecific Antibody for Multiple Myeloma
Tuesday, January 14, 2025
Simcere Zaiming and AbbVie have entered into a licensing agreement to advance the development of SIM0500, a trispecific antibody currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical trials for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (MM) in China and the United States.
SIM0500, a humanised antibody developed by Simcere Zaiming, utilises a proprietary T-cell engager polyspecific antibody technology platform.
The molecule is designed to target GPRC5D, BCMA, and CD3, combining a low-affinity CD3 engaging arm with binding sites for the tumour antigens GPRC5D and BCMA. Preclinical studies indicate significant T-cell-mediated cytotoxicity against MM cells, suggesting potential therapeutic benefits.
Under the terms of the agreement, Simcere Zaiming will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for milestone payments and option fees amounting to a total of $1.055 billion.
The company will also receive tiered royalties on net sales outside the Greater China region, while AbbVie is entitled to royalties within Greater China.
This collaboration aims to address the pressing unmet medical needs in the treatment of multiple myeloma by combining Simcere Zaiming’s innovative technology with AbbVie’s expertise in developing therapies for haematological conditions.
