SK Biopharmaceuticals Enters into Collaboration with ProEn Therapeutics for Radiopharmaceuticals

Tuesday, December 17, 2024

SK Biopharmaceuticals has announced a research collaboration with ProEn Therapeutics to strengthen its oncology research and expand its radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) pipeline.

The collaboration aims to advance up to two preclinical radiopharmaceutical candidates by 2027, aligning with SK Biopharmaceuticals’ goal of becoming a global leader in radiopharmaceuticals.

The partnership builds on SK Biopharmaceuticals’ ongoing strategic efforts to develop innovative therapies in nuclear medicine. This includes securing partnerships for key resources, such as actinium-225, a critical alpha-emitting radioisotope, and licensing radiopharmaceutical compounds as part of its RPT development roadmap.

Through the agreement, SK Biopharmaceuticals will utilise ProEn Therapeutics’ ArtBody™ platform. ArtBody™ is a bivalent binding technology designed to improve tumour targeting by incorporating small protein-based binders.

The platform enhances tumour selectivity while reducing the potential impact on healthy tissues. With high stability and production efficiency using bacterial systems, ArtBody™ is well-suited for industrial-scale applications.

SK Biopharmaceuticals expects this collaboration to address the limitations of existing cancer therapies by developing small protein-based radiopharmaceuticals that prioritise both safety and efficacy. The growing demand for innovative oncology treatments globally underscores the importance of this joint initiative.

This agreement marks a significant step for SK Biopharmaceuticals as it continues to advance its radiopharmaceutical research, furthering its commitment to improving outcomes for cancer patients and reinforcing its position in the global oncology market.
