Travere Therapeutics Signs Licensing Agreement with Everest Medicines for Civorebrutinib
Wednesday, June 03, 2026
Travere Therapeutics has entered into an exclusive licensing and collaboration agreement with Everest Medicines for the development and commercialisation of civorebrutinib (EVER001), an investigational oral Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. Under the agreement, Travere will obtain exclusive development and commercialisation rights for the therapy in all markets outside China and selected countries in East and Southeast Asia.
Civorebrutinib is being developed as a potential treatment for rare immune-mediated kidney diseases, including primary membranous nephropathy (PMN). Travere also plans to evaluate the therapy in focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), minimal change disease (MCD), and other possible indications.
The drug is an oral, covalent reversible BTK inhibitor designed to offer improved efficacy, safety and convenience for patients. BTK plays a key role in B-cell signalling, activation and antibody production. In immune-mediated kidney diseases, abnormal B-cell activity and autoantibody production are believed to contribute to kidney damage.
Civorebrutinib has shown proof of concept in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial involving patients with PMN. Previously reported results demonstrated rapid and sustained reductions in anti-PLA2R autoantibodies and proteinuria, alongside high rates of immunologic and clinical remission and stable kidney function over 52 weeks of follow-up. The therapy has also been generally well tolerated during development so far.
Travere believes civorebrutinib could have applications across several immune-mediated kidney diseases, which share mechanisms that can lead to glomerular damage, proteinuria and declining kidney function. These conditions can eventually result in the need for dialysis or kidney transplantation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Everest Medicines will receive an upfront payment of $112.5 million. The company is also eligible for up to approximately $1.03 billion in additional payments linked to clinical development, regulatory and commercial milestones across as many as five indications.
In addition, Travere will pay tiered royalties on future sales in its licensed territories, with rates ranging from high single-digit to double-digit percentages based on annual net sales levels.
The agreement is expected to take effect after customary closing conditions are met, including the expiry or termination of the applicable waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act.
