UCB to Expand Biologics Manufacturing with Major Investment in the United States

Friday, June 13, 2025

UCB has announced a significant investment to build a new biologics manufacturing facility in the United States.

This development is expected to strengthen UCB’s presence in one of its fastest-growing markets and support its expanding pipeline of innovative therapies.

The planned facility will enhance the company’s global manufacturing capacity and help establish a more resilient and sustainable supply chain. It is also expected to generate an estimated economic impact of around $5 billion. In parallel, UCB continues to scale up its collaborations with contract manufacturing organisations (CMOs) in the US to support the production of current and future treatments.

Since 2017, UCB has increased its US workforce by 73%, reaching approximately 2,000 employees. This growth has been supported by $4.5 billion in acquisitions and capital investments aimed at strengthening innovation and infrastructure. During this period, UCB has secured 15 FDA approvals or indication expansions, with eight achieved in the past two years alone.

The new manufacturing site is projected to create around 300 permanent jobs in biologics production and more than 500 jobs during the construction phase. A comprehensive feasibility study is underway to identify the most suitable location, with priority given to regions offering strong talent pools and active innovation ecosystems.

This initiative highlights UCB’s ongoing commitment to scientific advancement, economic contribution, and the delivery of sustainable healthcare solutions in the United States and beyond.
