WuXi Biologics and Medigene Collaborate on TCR-Guided T Cell Engagers

Friday, August 09, 2024

WuXi Biologics a global leader in Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organisation (CRDMO), has announced a three-year strategic partnership with Medigene.

The collaboration aims to co-develop T cell receptor (TCR)-guided T Cell Engagers (TCR-TCEs) for treating challenging tumours. This partnership will bring together Medigene’s expertise in generating and characterising TCRs with WuXi Biologics’ advanced TCE platform, anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody (mAb), and proprietary bispecific antibody platform, WuXiBody™.

WuXi Biologics, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting that it will enhance their research services within the CRDMO model and accelerate the discovery and development of novel therapies. WuXi Biologics believes this partnership will ultimately lead to better cancer treatments for patients worldwide.

Medigene, shared his confidence in the partnership, noting that Medigene’s expertise in producing top-tier TCRs for T cell therapies can be extended to non-cellular approaches. Medigene expressed delight in partnering with WuXi Biologics to leverage their anti-CD3 mAb and TCE platform to develop new modalities, such as TCR-TCEs, which will provide additional value for patients and shareholders.

WuXiBody™ is WuXi Biologics' proprietary bispecific antibody platform, designed to overcome common challenges in the development of bispecific antibodies. The platform supports high expression yield, stability, solubility, and easy purification, speeding up the development process by 6-18 months and significantly reducing manufacturing costs. WuXiBody™ also offers structural flexibility, allowing the creation of various bispecific antibody formats to meet different biological targets.
