Hokkaido University and BostonGene are using their AI-powered genome profiling platform to advance precision cancer treatment.

Tuesday, May 12, 2026

BostonGene, a developer of AI for cancer and immunology, today announced a research partnership with Hokkaido University. This multi-year initiative aims to support the advancement of precision medicine, improve treatment outcomes for Japanese patients, and generate actionable, high-quality, and clinically useful data.

BostonGene leverages next-generation sequencing and its proprietary AI-powered platform to perform integrated analyses of DNA, RNA, and immune system profiling. It analyzes genomic and immune profiles of tumor samples from over 20 cancer types provided by Hokkaido University. These analyses can provide valuable information for identifying patient-specific disease drivers and influencing treatment decisions.

"BostonGene's AI-powered platform provides the advanced analytical information necessary to translate clinical data into actionable insights," said Dr. Ichiro Kinoshita, research leader at Hokkaido University, professor of cancer gene diagnosis, and head of the Department of Medical Oncology, and Dr. Yutaka Hatanaka, specially appointed associate professor at the Advanced Diagnostic Technology Development Center, Institute for Medical and Health Science Research and Development, Hokkaido University Hospital. "By providing our scientific expertise and patient samples, we will promote more personalized and effective approaches for cancer patients in Japan."

"This partnership could serve as a good example of how complex patient data can be leveraged through BostonGene's AI-powered analysis to advance clinical treatment," said Yukimasa Shiotsu, President and CEO of BostonGene Japan. "This partnership strengthens our commitment to advancing translational oncology, which has a high clinical need."
