Cambrex to Invest US$30 Million (€26 Million) in Milan, Italy

Introduction:

Cambrex has started construction of a new research and development (R&D) facility at its Profarmaco Milano site in Milan, Italy, as part of a US$30 million (€26 million) investment.

Features:

The project involves the construction of a new research and development (R&D) facility at the Profarmaco Milano site in Milan, Italy. The new building will support analytical development and process research activities related to small-molecule pharmaceutical development.

The R&D operations will include analytical development activities used to assess and characterise pharmaceutical compounds and processes during development. Process R&D activities will support the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for small-molecule medicines.

The project also includes upgrades to multiple existing production plants at the Milan site. These upgrades will be carried out alongside the construction of the new R&D facility to expand development and manufacturing capabilities at the location.

Additional land adjacent to the existing site has been acquired. The land will provide space for potential future development and expansion of the Milan operations.

The facility will operate alongside the existing pharmaceutical development and manufacturing infrastructure at the site. The R&D and production activities will provide a link between process development, analytical work and manufacturing operations.
Construction of the new R&D facility is underway, with completion expected in the second half of 2027.
