Almac Group Completes US$28 Million Cold Chain Facility in Northern Ireland

Introduction:

Almac Group has completed its US$28 million facility at its global headquarters in Northern Ireland.

Features:

The new cold storage facility is 95,000 sq ft in size and custom built. With this expansion, the company provides a seamless, best-in-class service to its growing global client’s base.

The facility will readily be operational by January 2019 with a capacity that is equivalent to 3,000-pallets.

Components include -15°C to -25°C storage, additional 2°C – 8°C secondary production rooms, 3PL processing areas and a custom designed clinical labeling suite.

The facility was built in response to the needs of customers with regardsto the rapidly growing area of orphan drug products, changes to regulatory compliance and a more stringent focus on data across the supply chain.

It will facilitate in enhancing client’s product portfolios in the biologic/biosimilar sector. This new facility enhances the cold storage capacity by 300Percent and frozen storage capabilities by over 50Percent.

This expansion includes a new QC laboratory, a packaging facility for commercial drug products and a dedicated 79,000sq ft EU Distribution Centre for clinical trial supply.
