Almac Group plans to expand its operations in Europe and North America to increase its global headcount to reach 5, 000 by 2017.

The company will invest a further US$33.5 million (£27 million) at Almac’s US headquarter site in Souderton, Pennsylvania as part of its ongoing growth strategy and to meet the demands of its clients.
Almac Group expands its existing 240, 000 square-foot facility in addition to leasing a 26, 000 square foot office in nearby Lansdale.
Nearly 312 new full-time jobs across a wide range of functions will be created with the expansion of this project. In addition, it enhances the capabilities for its Clinical Services, Sciences, Clinical Technologies, and Pharma Services Businesses.
The Department of Community and Economic Development provided a funding proposal with US$1.61 million (£1.3 million) to the company and it involves substantial investment in new machine lines, software, computer equipment and an expanded cold storage area.
The company also invests US$62 million (£5 million) to construct an additional laboratory and office facility at it global headquarters site in Northern Ireland, Craigavon. Around 170 existing employees, who are chemists and analysts involved in supporting drug research, development and manufacture will be transferred to the new building.
Global Headcount is expected to reach over 500 by 2017. The Almac Group employs over 4, 600 staff globally and is set to reach 5, 000 by the end of 2017.
