Introduction:
Berkshire Sterile Manufacturing (BSM),has announced its expansion plans of adding new manufacturing capabilities with an investment of $20 million located in Lee, MA. BSM has secured $16.5 million in financing from Berkshire Bank and Lee Bank.
Features:
The expansion allows for adding a cleanroom and new filling line capable of filling up to 60,000 units of drug products including vials, syringes, and cartridges. In addition, a new pharmaceutical-grade water system, additional testing capabilities in microbiology and analytical labs, expand the warehouse, and double the size of the cleanrooms.
BSM is expected to hire additional 60 employees over the next two years to support its growth in pharmaceutical industry.
The funding obtained from Berkshire Bank and Lee Bankwill help double the capacity to better meet the needs for clinical manufacturing of sterile injectable drugs for COVID-19 and other diseases.
The expanded facility will be fully operational by early 2022.
