Cellares plans to construct the first commercial-scale smart factory in New Jersey, USA.

The new factory is designed to focus on facilitating large-scale commercial manufacturing operations.
The new smart factory, spanning 118,000 square feet is dedicated to commercial-scale manufacturing with space for 50 cell shuttles and achieve an annual production capacity of 40,000 batches.
By leveraging integrated technologies, these smart factories can outperform traditional CDMO facilities by producing ten times more cell therapy batches yearly, even within the same physical space and workforce.
Currently, Cellares operates two Smart Factories in the US and has plans for a third. The inaugural Smart Factory, located in South San Francisco, focuses on preclinical process development and technology transfer of manual processes onto the Cell Shuttle platform for existing partners.
The new GMP site is projected to start its opeartions by the latter half of 2024.
