Evonik to Invest US$100 Million in Lafayette, Indiana, USA

Introduction:

Evonik has announced plans to invest US$100 million over five years to upgrade drug substance manufacturing infrastructure at its Tippecanoe Labs site in Lafayette, Indiana.

Features:

The project involves the modernisation of manufacturing equipment and supporting systems at the Tippecanoe Labs drug substance manufacturing site. The upgrade will include large reactors and other critical process equipment used in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The work will introduce equipment upgrades and increased automation within the manufacturing operations. The project also includes modifications intended to improve equipment operation and operator ergonomics.

Manufacturing site for small-molecule drug substances and includes large-scale API production facilities. The site also has high-potency API manufacturing capabilities for handling and processing drug substances requiring controlled manufacturing conditions.

The modernisation will incorporate next-generation manufacturing technologies and energy-efficient process improvements. Specific reactor capacities, equipment specifications, cleanroom classifications, utility systems, automation platforms, validation requirements and quality-control systems have not been disclosed.

The upgrade programme is scheduled to take place over five years.
