Klöckner Pentaplast plans to expand its Klöckner Barrier Film (KBF) facility, located in central Virginia in the United States. Through this expansion, the company intendsto support the growing pharmaceuticals market.

The expansion project designed with amulti-million dollar investmentwill enhance the facility’s capacity by 6,000 metric tonnes. Moreover, the new facility will add innovative coating capabilities, which in turn will enhance the company’s ability to greatly serve the growing demand for pharmaceuticals market in the North American region with high-quality pharmaceutical films.
The increased coating capabilities will enhance the packaging needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers. As the market continues to expand, the need for high-barrier solutions will grow and hence sensitive pharmaceuticals must be protected from moisture and oxygen.
This additional facility expansion will help customers achieve new performance levels in barrier protection.
The expanded facility is scheduled to be to be operational towards the end of 2021.
