Sharp Sterile Manufacturing has announced plans to invest US$28 million to expand its facility in Lee, Massachusetts, USA.

The project involves capacity expansion at the Lee, Massachusetts facility to support additional aseptic fill-finish manufacturing activities.
The site has been operational since 2014 and is used for sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, including vial, cartridge and syringe filling operations. Additional capabilities at the site include lyophilisation, formulation-related activities and analytical testing required to support sterile drug production.
Filling capacity will increase through the installation of an isolated filling line designed for Ready-To-Use vials.
The filling line will use automated handling systems, non-destructive weight checking and an integrated lyophiliser.
The new equipment will allow the manufacture of batches of up to 100,000 units, depending on product requirements.
The site will support the manufacture of sterile pharmaceutical products for both clinical development and commercial supply.
