Anasys Instruments has launched VESTA, the world’s first easy to use Local Thermal Analyzer to help pharmaceutical companies' Quality Control (QC) of drug coatings and formulations. VESTA, the world's only available thermal analysis solution for applications involving localized thermal analysis of heterogeneous samples, surfaces and in-situ failure analysis at the micron scale, enables users to identify surface features of interest using an optical microscope before using the heated probe to perform local thermal analysis. VESTA offers polymer and pharmaceutical researchers the solution for micron scale localized thermal analysis.
• Probes come pre-mounted for easy exchange and allow heating up to 500° C
• Rapid controllable thermomechanical analysis with heating rates of up to 600,000°C / min.
• Identify/Characterise different locations from their onset and peak temperatures and by measuring their thermal properties.
The high spatial resolution imaging capabilities of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) are combined with the ability to obtain an understanding of the thermal behaviour of specified areas of the material in the technology used in VESTA. As VESTA uses an optical microscope, loading samples and acquiring image data is much faster than if an AFM were being used.
