Axplora Expands Farmabios with US$38 Million (€35 Million) Site Development in Italy

Introduction:

Axplora is allocating US$38 million (€35 million) to expand its Farmabios site in Italy, doubling the footprint of the facility.

Features:

A major site expansion is underway in Italy with the development of a new 62,000 square metre greenfield facility. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the project is designed to increase pharmaceutical production capacity while focusing on safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The facility will include flexible layouts that can accommodate a range of manufacturing processes, making it adaptable to future industry needs. Containment systems are an important part of the design, ensuring safe handling of active pharmaceutical ingredients in line with the highest international safety standards.

Environmental sustainability is addressed through the installation of Regenerative Thermal Oxidisers (RTOs), which will manage and reduce emissions generated during production. These systems support compliance with environmental regulations and contribute to lowering the overall impact of operations on surrounding communities.

Efficiency is also a key feature of the development, with the new infrastructure aimed at streamlining workflows and improving resource use across production, research, and storage functions.

The expansion will provide a modern, long-term base for pharmaceutical manufacturing that meets global regulatory requirements and maintains high quality standards.
