Merck Invests US$439.6(€440 million) million to Construct New Filtration Manufacturing Facility in Ireland

Introduction:
Merck plans to expand membrane and filtration manufacturing capabilities. The two new facilities will be located in Ireland.

The construction consist of two new projects including expansion of membrane manufacturing capacity in Carrigtwohill and new manufacturing facility at Blarney Business Park.

The new filtration manufacturing facility constructed with an investment of US$150.17 million (€150 million) will increase the global manufacturing capacity and supply customers producing both traditional and novel treatments and therapeutics. In addition, another manufacturing facility laid with US$290.33 (€290 million) will be dediacted for the novel and gene therapies, as well as applications like virus sterilisation.

This new project is the laid with biggest investment in the history of Merk to serve customers with the delivery of the critical products, technologies and services to fight with the world’s toughest health challenges, including Covid-19.

The new facility will create approximately 370 permanent jobs and expected to start to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
