The University of Chicago Opens New Manufacturing Facility in USA
Introduction:
The University of Chicago is set to open a new manufacturing facility in the USA.
Features:
The new manufacturing facility is equipped for bacterial manufacturing in an anaerobic environment, supporting fermentation, lyophilisation, and encapsulation of live biotherapeutic products.
The DFI’s cGMP facility provides researchers and other institutions with the opportunity to conduct studies using different bacterial consortia to treat, prevent, or cure various diseases.
The facility features two cleanroom suites with controlled and monitored temperature, humidity, differential pressure, and airflow.
A team of dedicated operators, engineers, and scientists upholds safety and aseptic standards while maintaining high-quality manufacturing processes.
Moreover, the cGMP facility will produce 17 different bacterial strains for treating liver disease. Additional capabilities of DFI include a host-microbe metabolomics facility, which uses mass spectrometry to identify metabolites, and a microbiome metagenomics facility that provides advanced sequencing services.
